SCOUTING REPORT

Background: Matt started playing baseball at the age of 6 in the YUMA baseball league. There Smith quicklybecame a force winning every award the league had to offer MIP,All-Star,Batting Title, and MVP. The only award which eluded Matt was the "Best Sportsmanship Award" which was perenially givin to the kid who struck out the most but tried hard.He was also considered by most the best defensive catcher in the league. In his last year Smith converted to first base wherehe continued to dazzle the crowd with flawless defensive play. In 1995 Smith shocked the baseball world when he announced his sudden retirement from the game. He claimed that he had accomplished everything he needed to in the game of baseballand wanted to go out on top at the same time as his idol Don Mattingly, he also stated that there was a 99.9% chance he would never return to the game he once dominated.  Last year Smith Came Back and played batted one point higher than his idol Tsuyoshi Shinjo (.197) he also led the team in runs/hits ratio a stat considered by many to be the most important in baseball.

Strengths: Most consider his strength to be the forehand.  An accomplished ping pong player Smith showed off the forehand last year to the tune of 7 cheap hits.  Also he has ESP and has been known to call the exact spot the ball will be hit.

Weakness: Although orginally we thought rust would be a problem, that was not the problem, the problem is Matt sucks.  Its like Donovan McNabb hes not overrated because hes black hes overrated because he sucks.  Matt doesnt suck because hes rusty, hes rusty because he sucks.

Major League Comparison-  Tsuyoshi Shinjo
