Giants Get their first 2 wins of the Season!

In the first game the Giants earned their first victory of the year winning 6-1 over the Tigersharks. Rob Pedalino (Pedalino, Rob) went 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and striking out 7.

In the second game Mike Charvat (Charvat, Mike) earned the victory going 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 7 runs striking out 7 and became lights out after getting hit by a pitch in the 4th as he then proceeded to strike out the side in the next inning. (Warning to teams everywhere: Do not enfuriate the crafty Knuckleballer.) Chris Hall (Hall, Chris) then came in during the 7th inning with a runner on first and recorded the first ever L.I. Giants save allowing 1 hit and 1 walk before inducing the 5-4-3 double play to end the game.

The offense was led by the scorching hot Keith Morano (Morano, Keith) who upped his batting average to .700 going 4-4 with 3 runs, 5 rbi's, 2 walks and a bases loaded triple.  Chris Hall also had a big day going 4-7 with 3 runs, 1 rbi, and 2 stolen bases.  Randy Smith (Smith, Randy) added 3 hits and an rbi while Adam "too much" Stiles went 2-4 with 2 rbi's in the first game.  Mike Charvat for the second week in a row went 2-6 adding an rbi and 3 stolen bases all which happened to be on delayed steals.

Giants Lose their First two and Tag's loses a Testicle!

The Long Island Giants suffered a devastating blow, figurativley speaking however for paul its a little bit more literal!  In the second inning of the second game of the double header Paul Taglienti (Taglienti, Paul) playing shortstop, attempted to make a sliding catch and collided with right fielder Matt "The Nutcracker" Smith (Smith, Matt).  In also attempting to make a sliding catch Matt's knee collided with pauls testicle, and paul was carted off the field by ambulance.  As of right now they are still running tests on Paul and currently do not know the problem. His mom has been quoted as saying its because he went out last night.

The giants lost the first game 8-7, and the second game 15-3.  In the first game Rob Pedalino Jr (Pedalino, Rob) Struck out 7 allowing 8 hits and 4 walks, giving up 7 earned runs.  Pedalino was cruising along through the first 3 innings striking out 4 through 3 and allowing only 1 hit on a bunt single.  In the 4th inning however as Rob started to tire, the wheels fell off (give the kid a break he hasnt pitched in 2 years) and he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in the 4th and walked 3 and gave up 4 hits in the 5th inning, but due to lack of a bullpen he stayed in and finished the 5th and 6th inning surrending only 1 more hit.

In the second game the giants were mercied 15-3.  Mike Charvat went 5 innings striking out 3, gave up12 hits, walking 4, and allowing an uncharacteristic 9 runs.  Poor defense was the name of this game balls that should have been caught weren't and balls that were caught weren't always thrown to where they should have been.

There were some bright notes however offensively led by Rob Pedalino Jr who went 4 for 7 with 3 runs, 3 rbi's and a homerun; Keith Morano went 3-6 with a walk, run, and stolen base; Mike Charvat added 2 hits and a run as well as stealing a base while Chris Hall and Robert Pedalino Sr. each added 2 rbi's.  Before the injury Paul Taglienti went 2-4 scoring a run and he also added an rbi.
